کیا  عظیم  لوگ تھے  جو عدم سدھار چلے

روزانہ  جہاں میں، مرتے  ہیں لوگ کیا کیا

And what ancient masters

Have left for the next realm

And more do the same

On a daily basis

بڑی کوشش ہے انکی، عیوب چھپانے کی

بارے شیخِ حرم،  جانتے ہیں لوگ کیا کیا

He tries so hard

To hide his ills

About the pious pretender

People know a lot

قبروں پہ سجدہ کریں، کریں بندے کو خدا

سادہ دل و لاچار،  مانتے ہیں لوگ کیا کیا

Prostrations before graves

Making men into gods

The innocent fools

Believe in strange things

کیا  عقیدت  و عبادت  کا  فلسفہ  ہے یاروں؟

سمجھ نہیں پاتا، سمجھتے ہیں لوگ کیا کیا

And what is the philosophy

Of godliness and worship

I do not understand

What people understand

انجیل  و  گیتا  و  زبور  و  قرآن  سب پڑھا

اور کیا پڑھوں کے  پڑھتے ہیں لوگ کیا کیا

The Bible, The Geeta,

The Psalms, The Quran I read them all

What more should I read

What do people read these days?

ہاں  کافی  جل کٹ  سنائی ہو گی رقیب نے

عشقِ لاپرواہ سے،  جلتے ہیں  لوگ کیا کیا

And yes he must have said

Some untoward things

A love free of bounds

Makes some jealous

ہانے رئ تیرا پشیمانی  پے  پریشان  ہونا

ترے بھولپن سے، اجڑتے ہیں لوگ کیا کیا

Your guilt

About your guilt

Do you even realize

How many people your innocence has ruined

کچھ  تو  خوف  کھا  اپنی  بدنامی  کا  استاد

تیرے  بارے سرِ رہ،  کہتے ہیں  لوگ  کیا  کیا

And for the sake of all that is holy

Be afraid of losing your good name
