The Flags of Nations…

Once our minds were made up

To reflect on you

The wilderness

Turned to paradise

.

And some of the flags

We hoisted upon buildings

Yet others

We used as shrouds

.

And on my silence

She laughs and says

You can not speak

And yet claim to be a poet?

.

Admittedly, We were enemies

Once upon a time

But now the enemies

Are friends

.

Because the thoughts

I had last night

Have turned into

Hellish demons

.

جو تجھے یاد کرنے کے، ذہن بن گئے

صحراِ جنوں بھی، چمن بن گئے

.

کچھ جھنڈے عمارتوں پے سج گئے

جو باقی رہے وہ کفن بن گئے

.

میری خامشی پے ہنس کہتی ہے وہ

بات کر آتی نہیں زی سخن بن گئے؟

.

ہاں کل تک تو عداوت کا رشتہ تھا

آج دشمنِ جاں جانِ من بن گئے

.

خیال جو آتے تھے شبِ گزشتہ

ان گنت بلاؤں کے دہن بن گئے
